Michelle and Allan Hann of Nova Scotia were actively seeking a unique business opportunity. Initially before launching Hippy Hemp Michelle had discovered the super nutritional benefits of eating hemp seeds regularly and incorporating hulled hemp in cereals, protein bars, smoothies, and salads. She started to learn more about the plant based power of cold pressed hemp oil and hemp protein powder and was amazed at many other uses this miracle crop offers.
Michelle and Allan are both physically active and with Michelle committed passionately to her love for healthy living, she had been seeking an opportunity to share this passion with others. The idea of Hippy Hemp sprouted and first planted it roots as a home based business for the first few years.
They were excited with their business venture promoting by word of mouth Hippy Hemp, passing out business cards and doing product demos at community events. After testing the local market and experiencing positive results they convinced 3 close friends in joining the team plan with opening a retail location at the Port of Sydney, Nova Scotia in May 2018. Allan and Michelle continued to share their ideas and spent hours searching for unique hemp products made in Canada and connected with local artisans in making hemp related products. We worked in developing positive business relationships with our smaller suppliers.
Hippy Hemp wants to promote awareness and provide information on how hemp has become part of a growing trend. There has been steady exponential growth in the natural health industry with more consumers becoming more aware of individual and environmental health choices. We offer organic, natural hemp related products with minimal harmful ingredients.
The staff at Hippy Hemp products in Cape Breton are knowledgeable about our retail products and yes “we try them, love them and use them”.
A great percentage of our products contain hemp and we like to joke that “if it’s not made with hemp it has to be hippy”. Our hemp product line has become expansive with categories including Pain Relief, Bath and Body Products, Hemp Nutrition and Snacks, Hemp Coffee, Pet Nutrition, Hemp Clothing and Accessories.
Where We Are Located
Hippy Hemp is a unique hemp boutique located on the beautiful Island of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia at the Joan Harris Cruise Pavilion. The island is now known as a popular world tourist destination. Allan and Michelle enjoy friendly chats with many interesting cruise passengers and tourists from around the world.
Locally we sell hemp products to surrounding communities such as Sydney River, Eskasoni, Membertou, Glace Bay, New Waterford, North Sydney, Sydney Mines, Baddeck, Saint Peter's, Port Hawkesbury, Antigonish, Whycocomagh, Mabou, Inverness, as well as to the rest of Canada.
