Before launching Hippy Hemp, the owners Michelle and Allan Hann of Sydney, NS had discovered the benefits of super organic natural hemp products.

There are many nutritional benefits of making products from hemp seeds and hemp oil. Eating hemp seeds regularly and incorporating hulled hemp in cereals, protein bars, smoothies, and salads is very nutritional. The owners of Hippy Hemp Products in Cape Breton started to learn more about the plant based power of cold pressed hemp oil and hemp protein powder and was amazed at many other uses this miracle crop offers.

Michelle and Allan Hann are both physically active and with Michelle committed passionately to her love for healthy living, she had been seeking an opportunity to share this passion with others. The idea of Hippy Hemp sprouted and first planted it roots as a home based business for the first few years.

They both were excited with their hemp business venture promoting by word of mouth Hippy Hemp, passing out business cards and doing product demos at community events. After testing the local market and experiencing positive results they convinced 3 close friends in joining the team plan with opening a retail location at the Port of Sydney, Nova Scotia in May 2018.

Hemp Products Available Locally in Cape Breton

Allan and Michelle Hann of Hippy Hemp Products in Cape Breton, both continued to share their ideas and spent hours searching for unique hemp products made in Canada and connected with local artisans in making hemp related products.  We worked in developing positive business relationships with our smaller suppliers.

Currently Hippy Hemp Natural Products have a variety of hemp products available locally in Cape Breton at their Hippy Hemp online store as well as their physical store located at the Big Fiddle Market inside the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion, 90 Esplanade, Sydney, NS.

Hippy Hemp continues to promote awareness and provide information on how hemp has become part of a growing trend. There has been steady exponential growth in the natural health industry with more consumers becoming more aware of individual and environmental health choices.  We offer organic, natural hemp related products with minimal harmful ingredients.

People are really starting to give hemp a chance by incorporating the plant into their lives in a big way. In 2014, there was $620 million worth of hemp products sold in the U.S. alone, with food and personal care items totaling about $200 million.

Canadian hemp sales in 2018 were estimated at $500 million; by 2023, the Canadian Hemp Trade Alliance (CHTA) estimates that could be as high as $3 billion. Jan Slaski, a hemp researcher at InnoTech Alberta and a CHTA director, thinks more food companies, pet-food producers, and the livestock industry will flock to hemp, too. “The market for CBD will be much bigger than THC and marijuana,” Slaski says. “In three years, we will be taking CBD like we take vitamins.”
